I've been in a bit of a reading slump lately so was perusing Amazon for some lighthearted books to try and get my mojo back and come across these two which managed to interest me enough to add to my ever growing TBR list (click on the cover to go to Goodreads):

 Synopsis:

For cat lovers everywhere, this sweet, quirky, and delightful romance is about a young woman and her matchmaking cat. A little bit of mystery, a whole lot of whimsy.

When a matchmaking cat takes it upon himself to find his young mistress a new mate, he accidentally stirs up memories better left forgotten.

Melody’s husband was murdered by what seemed a random act of violence. Two years later, the killer hasn’t been caught, and Melody is coping in unhealthy ways. During the day she’s a mild-mannered children’s librarian, but at night she’s a party girl, hanging out in bars, drinking with new friends, and often bringing home strange men. Although acquaintances have tried to keep in touch, Melody has cut herself off from most of the people in her old life. Max, her eccentric cat, doesn’t approve of her new friends, he’s tired of the parade of losers, and he finally takes it upon himself to find Melody a new man.
 

 Synopsis:
Candice Gunderson and her purebred pooch, Phoebe, are driving through the Indiana countryside on their way to an appointment with a dog breeder. If all goes as planned, the “meeting” with Charles the Conqueror will result in a lovely litter of puppies.

Unfortunately, Candice is hopelessly lost, the GPS in her car has gone haywire, and she needs to find a bathroom in the worst way. The pair pulls up alongside a little house in hopes of finding some helpful inhabitants.

What she finds is Bull Ramsey, a cute farmer, and his mutt, Jack, who is more than happy to have a “meeting” of his own with Phoebe.

Candice is determined to maintain control of the situation and prove she is an independent woman. A few unexpected events and mischievous farm animals won’t interfere with her plans. She can handle this, right?

Well, you'll see. With hilarious full-color photos throughout, Rabid holds a humorous mirror up to our dog-centered society, helping us laugh at our own behavior and at the even-more-insane antics of all those other dog people.

 

 

Ok, so it's probably no secret that I am a little obsessed with dogs (especially my fur-child Beagle, Evie) so as soon as I saw this book in one of the latest Shelf Awareness newsletters I couldn't wait to add it to my TBR list.

Friday Finds (11th May 2012)

Friday finds is a meme hosted by Should Be Reading where you list all the books that you've come across or heard about during the past week that you've become interested in reading.

I hope everyone has had a lovely week. Today was the first day I have had with no work or study committments in weeks and it was so nice to wake up (after a bit of a sleep in too, thanks little man!) and not have to actually do anything unless I wanted to. I've played around the house with my little man, taken him and our fur-child for a big walk and have wasted a fair bit of time on the internet and for once, I can feel totally guilt free for doing all these things. These types of days just don't happen anywhere near enough anymore......

I've seen a lot of great reviews for all the books in this series.

I love happy dog books. The story behind this one is something that I think a lot of people could learn from.

This book couldn't be further from what I usually read but I'm having a bit of a lemming moment where I'm super intrigued because EVERYBODY has been talking about it.


My plans for this afternoon are most likely to waste more time on the internet, do a bit of reading when bub has his afternoon sleep, maybe do our grocery shopping list for tomorrow and possibly have a nanna nap. I might even throw in a little bit of housework so that I can look like I'm a good little wifey before hubby gets home. Bliss......

I have had a huge week of finds for a change. I just wish I had more hours in the day to get through everything I want to read!! I wish I could make a career out of being a full-time reader. Talk about my dream job.......

This is a bit boring I know but ever since I gave birth to my little man last year I've had the weakest back which gives me pain constantly ever since. I'm interested to see if the claims this book makes are real or just another crappy excercise regime that doesn't achieve anything.

  I have seen so many good reviews about these ones that I just have to try them for myself.


 Don't you just love the name of this one?? I need a sign that says this made so I can wear it when I'm at home.

 I absolutely loved the Dark Tower series and think it is one of the best things that Stephen King has ever written. Needless to say I am super duper excited to read this next instalment.

  More that I have seen excellent reviews for so just had to add them to my TBR list.

This one has a pussycat on the cover and as the main character in the story. Need I say more???
